Darn it anyway...

Fifteen and a half years and still so many things will daily remind me of Grandma Nichols. Baking bread. Opening my mail-box. My beloved humming-birds! And darn it all if seeing an iris doesn't just make my heart ache for her!

And of course I have to cup my hands around it and stick my face in it and take the biggest, longest sniff possible...just to guarantee that my eyes well up with tears!

Nope, not over losing her yet.

Our Miss Melanie is 7

Displaying bold-faced disobedience, Melanie Jayne went ahead and turned 7 - nevermind her parents flat out told her, "No more growing up!"

She had a fun little party with the family and grandma & grandpa...grandpa was a lot more fun after his nap. Notice Joseph hiding behind grandpa? That was the safest place he could find to hide and play Simon (remember that game?) where nobody would take it from him!

And when it was time to say good-bye, grandpa made sure Joseph still had custody of Simon!

I realize this is Jaynie's birthday post, but I don't get many opportunities where my big kids think it's cool to sit by their mommy!
